This is me!

During this term, the students have done a good job for their Speaking exam. They were asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation on Google Drive about themselves following the instructions given by the English teacher as a part of the exam. Here you can see two good examples of them.

CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN WITH MY NEW STUDENTS!!!!

On October 30, as is now traditional, the English Department organized a contest to celebrate Halloween. Students were asked to design a comic or a poster and carve a pumpkin.  I also encouraged my 3º ESO students to take part in a mini contenst  among themselves.
Thanks to Des, our English assistant, the following prizes were given, as shown in the pictures below.

THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST!!!

GOT THE QUALITY LABELS ONCE MORE!!

Good news for those who took part in the eTwinning project EVERYDAY SITUATIONS. We have been awarded the National and European Quality Labels for the excellence of the work in our project. This means that our work, students and teachers, has been recognised at the highest European level.

CONGRATULATIONS, TEAMS!!!

Yesterday I attended a seminar on eTwinning projects in Mérida and I was invited as a speaker to inform about our project.

I met D. Carlos Javier Medina Bravo (Jefe de Servicio de Proyectos Europeos del Instituto Nacional de Tecnologías Educativas y de Formación del Profesorado)Ignacio Casado and Anette Westerop (SNA Servicio Nacional de Apoyo).

I was also so delighted to have seen Francisco Miguel García Barroso, a former student of mine, who works as an English teacher and works closely with eTwinning as an ambassador in Extremadura.

OUR HUGE ENGLISH POSTER

Let's start a new school year: 2015/16. I really hope my 3rd year Secondary School and 2nd year sixth-form students learn a lot and enjoy the English lessons.
Here is the big board we have on the 3º ESO D classroom wall. Apart from those posters designed by myself, the letters on it were chosen from the best ones created by the students.

A SWEET FAREWELL TO ALEXANDRA BOROSTEAN

Yesterday we said goodbye to our language assistant, Alexandra, after two years with us. Short speeches were made to thank her for her significant support in some activities carried out in our eTwinning project.
I would also like to mention her excellent work and enthusiasm to help our students improve their English. Finally, I wish to thank her personally for being a great friend and because I have learnt so much from her.

   GOOD LUCK!!!

I'll miss you!!!

DON BENITO TRAVEL GUIDE IN ENGLISH

As mentioned earlier in this blog, the 4º ESO Bilingual Section students and I are involved in an eTwinning project called Everyday Situations this school year:

I should like to point out one of the activities carried out thanks to our tremendous efforts, a fact of which we are extremely proud. We have worked closely with the Tourist Information office in Don Benito and translated its guide into English, which is going to be published shortly.
As well as being translators, students have been photographers. Lots of pics of different parts in our town have been taken as they can be seen in our digital travel guide version below. Once again:

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR EXCELLENT WORK, STUDENTS!!!

WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE!

Today, during the English lesson, the Bilingual Section students have been visited by someone very special for them, Erin Baskin. She worked as a language assistant here two years ago. She told us about her life in Madrid, the school where she works, her travels and her future plans.

Thanks very much for visiting us, Erin!

POTLUCK 2015

As usual in previous years, a POTLUCK was celebrated with a group of 32 students of 2º Bachillerato and six teachers on April 29th. On this special occasion, the decorations were related to Ireland and St. Patrick, as shown in the photos taken during the activity.
Everybody was given a cute shamrock as a souvenir and enjoyed a superb lunch together.
THANKS TO ALL FOR TAKING PART -
IT WAS AGAIN A PLEASURE TO SHARE SUCH A LOVELY EVENT!!!!

THIS IS OUR HIGH SCHOOL!

In this video the group of students from 4º ESO Bilingual Section wants to show our high school, Cuatro Caminos, to our European partners involved with us in the eTwinning project named EVERYDAY SITUATIONS. This video has been made possible thanks to the invaluable assistance of Marco Sosa Sánchez-Cortés, the Art & Design teacher, who has edited this excellent video and Dolores Ruiz Moreno, the PE teacher, who has directed most part of the choreography brilliantly.
