Third Term Speaking: 1º Bilingual Section

This term is quite different from the others since we are living a new experience. Due to the Covid-19, the closure of schools has affected all of us, both teachers and students. However, we are trying to do our best in order to improve our skills through online lessons.
Students have worked individually, in pairs, and in groups and have recorded videos or audios dealing with the topics explained in their student's books. Also, they have listened to all the videos and audios and given a mark they think their classmates deserved for their work.

A VIDEO ABOUT HOW TO MAKE A RECIPE:
First, the students wrote a recipe following the instructions given in Unit 6 (p.82) and then took a photo and recorded the video. The best ones are as follows:

  • FIRST PLACE:  Claudia Cidoncha Ruiz (8 points)

  • SECOND PLACE:  Nazaret Nieto Almaza and Adriana Tapia Cuadrado (5 points each)

  • THIRD PLACE:  Carla Flores Sánchez and Isabel González Gajardo (3 points each)

A CONVERSATION IN PAIRS OR IN GROUPS:
This time, the students recorded a conversation about two different situations they practiced in their student's books.  Both are found in the book section called PRACTICAL ENGLISH but in different units. These were the chosen conversations:

  • ORDERING IN A RESTAURANT (Unit 6)
           Claudia, Isabel, Jimena and Adriana:

           Irene, Carla and Natalia:

Jose, Ricardo, Sergio, Alejandro and Andrés:
  • SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES (Unit 7)
          Ricardo and Andrés:

         Nazaret and Sara:

HAPPY EASTER AND THE WINNERS ARE ...

It is time at last to know who the winners are. As we must stay at home, it is impossible for us to give the prizes during a ceremony, as was originally intended. However, you will be given the prizes as soon as possible.
It is a great pleasure for me to announce the winners of our first Easter Egg Design Contest 2020:

NAZARET NIETO ALMAZA
1ºB BILINGUAL SECTION

CLARA RIVERA CHAPARRO
1ºBHB CIENCIAS SOCIALES

And there is a tie for third place, both of them will get a prize:

SOFÍA CASTAÑO RUIZ
1ºBHB CIENCIAS SOCIALES

ADRIANA TAPIA CUADRADO
1ºB BILINGUAL SECTION

Another design with the second largest vote was this one:

I also want to thank those who voted my design but obviously, as a teacher, I didn't take part in the contest. For me, the best prize is that all of you participated and did a really great job. I have to confess that designing the three girls and others more has been one of my most powerful experiences!
Finally,  I wish you and your relatives a Holy Easter, I know, it is being so different but everyone should be aware that we need to make every effort to handle this situation in the best possible way.

That I would have liked to have seen this Easter Egg Tree in our school hall decorated with all the eggs designed by my students.

EASTER EGG DESIGN CONTEST

To finish the second term, students are asked to take part in the following contest:

Our high school closed its doors on 13th March, so it was impossible for the students to take their decorated eggs to school. As they have done their job, I asked them to send me pictures of their Easter eggs and prepare an exhibition. In this way, we will be able to choose the best ones through Google Classroom.
A total of 28 Easter eggs have been presented to our contest:

eTwinning project: FOUR WAYS TO CHANGE

LET'S SWAP! This is the name of one activity we have been preparing for our new eTwinning project since February. Thanks to all the school community, we have succeeded in collecting a great amount of second-hand items, such as different types of clothes and accessories, as well as all the stuff sent from Ireland. The teachers and students involved in the project have started a shop in one classroom so that people can go there to buy or exchange items. Both all the money raised and unsold items will go to charity.
In order to advertise the so-called 4C second-hand shop, before its opening, some volunteers from First Bachillerato have gone to different groups of students to explain what this activity is about and how they can take part in.
In the following video, we can see Sofía Castaño and Lucía Hurtado giving an explanation to one of the bilingual group: 1º ESO B.

Second Term Speaking: 1ºB Bilingual Section

This term, students formed into groups of 4 in order to record a video.  Previously, students were taught how to talk about the different members of their family and describe the parts of a house or flat. They were also asked to grade their classmates' videos. The students did a great job but in some videos, important requirements were omitted. However, I should also mention that a team work means to work all together, not individually. This is something they must take into account in following tasks.

Videos will be shown in the order in which they were elected:

NUMBER 1:

José, Sergio, Alejandro & Andrés

NUMBER 2:

Vicky, Irene, Nazaret & Sara

NUMBER 3:

Carla, Isabel, Jimena & Irene

NUMBER 4:

Claudia, Natalia, Ricardo & Adriana

Most students have demonstrated notable levels of imagination and creativity. The following projects were chosen for our classroom poster:
