CHRISTMAS 2022

This year, IES Cuatro Caminos has once again broken all expectations and has become a real Christmas story with the wonderful and varied Christmas decorations scattered mainly around the entrance garden, the porch welcoming students to the school and the foyer.

There have also been many photos taken by students, teachers and non-teaching staff of the school in the cosy Christmas photocall in the foyer.

The desired 22nd of December started in the best possible way, with a great breakfast of hot chocolate with churros offered by the IES Cuatro Caminos.

The highlight of the morning came with our traditional Christmas gala, held in the SUM and conducted by the Head of Complementary and Extracurricular Activities, Dolores Ruiz.

The prizes were awarded for the different competitions held during the term: Halloween, Christmas and the Library Competition. Special mention for the student Marina Sosa who won a prize in Halloween with the following card:

But she also manages to win our mini Christmas competition and the first prize in the general Christmas Decorations competition.

Marina received a special prize and all my students, including the teacher Carmen Aliseda, were presented with a Christmas gift.

It is also worth mentioning that the students of the Bilingual Section participated with their tutors and classmates in the Christmas wreath competition:

Finally, the English teacher Marta made two Christmas cards of the group in two of the most striking scenes of this year to wish Christmas greetings to both my students and their parents:

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES

Celebrated on 26 September, the European Day of Languages (EDL) is a means of promoting awareness of the importance of language learning and protecting the linguistic heritage. Numerous events are organized throughout September and October to showcase the linguistic richness of Europe as well as to honour and to promote multilingualism and language learning.

The general objectives of the European Day of Languages are to:

  • Alert the public to the importance of language learning in order to increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding.

  • Promote the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe.

  • Encourage lifelong language learning in and out of school.

On the occasion of the day, some events were carried out at school. This group, 3ºESO Bilingual Section, and their teachers, Carmen Aliseda and Marta Fernández organized a radio programme, which was recorded by our student Carlos García. The activities consisted of a presentation about some curiosities related to languages and an exhibition of tongue twisters in different languages. All of us enjoyed the lesson and our students were encouraged to take up a language, or to take special pride in their existing language skills.

Here are the videos recorded:

BEST ENGLISH STUDENTS (2021/2022)

As has become usual with my students, on the last day of the school year, we hold an AWARDS CEREMONY for all students and especially for those students who have earned the most stickers during the three terms. How do I get the stickers? It is always explained at the beginning of the school year with all the rules to follow. Those students who score between 9 and 10 points in each test get a sticker. At the end of the year, the students count all the stickers they have collected and three different prizes are given to the students who have won the most stickers.

The ceremony took place in our classroom right in front of our large poster displaying pictures of the activities and the best handmade ENGLISH letters made by seven students.

Some awards, diplomas, medals and handcrafted gifts in recognition of their hard work were given to  the best students this year:

Apart from these three awarded students, a very special mention must be made to our student, Carlos García, for all his hard work during the year with the video editions. Of course, he also deserved a special gift.

Carlos García

I could not end this ceremony without giving the whole class a very special gift:

As most of them were already enjoying their summer holidays, a small group that had to make some presentations gave me a big surprise two days later. I was speechless, it was really a great detail what I received. The presents are already in a very special place in my studio.

I can only say: THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE GIVEN ME DURING THIS SCHOOL YEAR, a difficult year that has been more bearable with you. It is worth being a teacher with students like you.
