WARM CHRISTMAS GREETINGS TO EACH ONE OF YOU

CHRISTMAS!!! This word brings not only joy to our hearts but time to rest and recover energy to get a better start the second term.
Remember this:

HALLOWEEN 2014

On October 31st the English Department organized an exhibition to celebrate Halloween. This time students were asked to bring whatever they wanted to make or design in order to take part in a contest.
Apart from this, I encouraged my 4º ESO students to participate by organizing a mini contenst  among themselves. Those who wanted to be part of it had to bring their projects on October 27th. There were 16 participants. Thanks to Alexandra, our English assistant, the secretaries, Ana and Fidela, and some other students, the best projects were  chosen. They are shown in the following pictures and video of the activity.

All the participants were given a Halloween bookmark and the best projects got some special presents.
THANKS FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!!!!

Excellent news for us!!

On October 31st we got this gratifying news: We were awarded with  the European Quality label for our eTwinning project EUROPEAN CONNECTIONS BLOG (http://euroconn.blogspot.com.es). This encourages us to continue working on our current eTwinning project with great enthusiasm: EVERYDAY SITUATIONS.

The day before I had attended a seminar on eTwinning projects in Mérida and I felt so proud of my students when suddenly I saw them on a presentation. One of the speakers, Lourdes Gozalo (SNA), mentioned our project as an example to follow.

GREAT WORK STUDENTS!!!

From Spain, we would also like to congratulate our Irish partners:

eTwinning national Quality Label!

WE GOT IT, STUDENTS!!
Congratulations to all of you and thanks you very much for your cooperation. Last school year my students and I registered on eTwinning portal and started a project called EUROPEAN CONNECTIONS BLOG. It was also carried out by the Irish teacher Ciara Rock. The project had a good balance of ICT use (Information and Communications technology) and classroom activities which fit into the school curriculum.
The participation in this project was not considered as an extra work, but a tool used to improve my teaching skills and help my students communicate in a foreign language and work with students from another country.

POTLUCK 2014

Today after school, for the second time in two years, we organized a potluck with all the groups from 2nd of Bachillerato. A potluck is a get together where you have to bring food and share it with everyone else. For this reason, some of the synonyms of potluck are "bring and share", "shared lunch" or "dish to pass". The tradition says that each dish has to be big enough to be shared among all the participants.
The potluck was a great success. It showcased some of the traditional dishes from Spain, such as mouthwatering home-cooked French, Spanish and eggplant tortillas, empanadas, salads, snitzels, stuffed filet, chorizo, salchichón, ..., different types of desserts like brownies, rice pudding, caramel pudding, peach cake, icecream and last but not least cupcakes and cakes decorated with the Canadian flag.
We would like to thank all the students for signing up and for contributing with a dish. Also  special thanks to the following teachers: Encarna, Juan and Mª Ángeles for helping out with the preparations.
As always, we had a delicious time together! Just click on the video and see!

WORLD BOOK DAY

In celebration of this year WORLD BOOK DAY, which takes place on 23rd April every year, my 4ºESO students and I have made a huge poster full of sentences beginning with "READING IS ..." on long strips of colourful papers and original bookmarks. Also some volunteers from other ESO groups have taken part in this activity.

DID YOU KNOW?
In England, to avoid clashing with St George's day on 23rd April, WORLD BOOK DAY is celebrated on the first Thursday of March every year.

OUR LOVE WORM

This is the name for the activity the English Department with Alexandra are preparing for this week.

For the last few days, Alexandra has been explaining our students how easy and quick making a heart could be. Here is her heart. It is so lovely, isn't it?
