BEST ENGLISH STUDENTS (2022/2023)

As has become usual with my students, on the last day of the school year, we hold an AWARDS CEREMONY for all students and especially for those students who have GOT the most stickers during the three terms. How do I get the stickers? It is always explained at the beginning of the school year with all the rules to follow. Those students who score between 9 and 10 points in each test get a sticker. At the end of the year, the students count all the stickers they have collected and three different prizes are given to the students who have won the most stickers.

This school year, the best students were given some awards, diplomas, medals and handcrafted gifts in recognition of their hard work :

3º ESO A/B BILINGUAL SECTION:

1st PRIZE

13 stickers

2nd PRIZE

9 stickers

3rd PRIZE

8 stickers

Other students who deserve to be recognised for their excellent work during the course include:

Carlos García Nieto
Alejandro Bazán Aparicio
Irene Molina González
Daniel Solís Esteban

Again this year, we take this opportunity to thank Carlos Garcia for his extraordinary work as director and editor of a project that we started last year and that will be continued in the near future.

Finally, I would like to thank again  for all the participation of these students and my colleagues Carmen Aliseda and Dolo Ruiz. Without the work of all of them, we would not have been able to implement a project that will be completed this year, a project in which we have all provided our grain of sand and thanks to this, we have obtained excellent results.

HOW TO WRITE A DESCRIPTION OF A PLACE

In Module 5, students have learned how to write a description of a place following the model in their student's book.

Students were also asked to write an email to a friend recommending their high school, organising the email into three paragraphs.

  • Paragraph 1: the name and location of the place

  • Paragraph 2: advantages of studying here

  • Paragraph 3: your opinion about your high school and why you think your friend would like it.

The one written by Ana Sánchez was chosen as an example:

4K RADIO:

GETTING TO KNOW OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE ASSISTANT!

Welcome to a new program on 4k en la Onda about our conversation assistant at IES Cuatro Caminos, Anushka. Normally our school receives conversation assistants from the United States, England, Ireland... but this year we have Anushka, who comes from India.

Our students of the bilingual section of 3rd ESO and their teachers, Marta Fernández and Carmen Aliseda, have prepared some questions to get to know Anushka and her culture better through this interview conducted entirely in English as a vehicular language.

We would like to thank our colleague Pepe Burgos, who coordinates the radio program, for his contribution to the success of this activity.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Thursday, 30 March 2023

On 30 March 2023, the 3rd ESO Bilingual Section students, guided by their teachers Marta Fernández and Dolores Ruiz, had the opportunity to visit IES José Manzano. On arrival, they were greeted by English teachers Javier Mogollo and Jara Salguero, who welcomed them and invited them to participate in an exciting breakout about the film "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Breakout led by the teacher Guillermo Valadés.

During the activity, several groups were formed to solve different puzzles related to the film. The students worked as a team and demonstrated their problem solving skills and worked together.

Our students also had the opportunity to enjoy several performances by their classmates from IES José Manzano, supported by teacher César Trillo in their performances, so that everyone in the audience could enjoy their artistic skills.

All in all, the visit to IES José Manzano was an exciting and enriching experience for the students of the Bilingual Section. They had the opportunity to practice their skills, work as a team and enjoy the performances.

4K Radio interviews Mar Alonso Quirós

At IES Cuatro Caminos we have had the privilege of having as a guest  Mar Alonso Quirós, a former student of the school, graduated in psychology and with great experience in European programmes. Mar Alonso, together with teachers: Marta Fernández, Carmen Aliseda, and 3rd ESO Bilingual students recorded a radio program based on the opportunities offered by the European Union for young people.

She also talked about her participation in Youth Exchanges under the Erasmus+ programme and the opportunities to take part in exchanges or training courses within this programme for all young people.

Mar Alonso Quirós

We invite you to watch or listen to this programme and learn more about the great opportunities offered by the European Union for young people: teenagers, students, recent graduates and all those interested in personal development, improving their knowledge, improving their professional career or interested in volunteering.

We hope you enjoy the program as much as we did, teachers and students, recording it.
